Entry for :iconmangapt:'s latest contest, in which we're supposed to make a manga page.

I know what many of you might be thinking, right now... "Why doesn't The Sword of Heavens look like this?!"

Because unlike the webcomic, this page took a lil' more to be made. You don't want the webcomic to become monthly, do you? XD

Reading is done the western way, which is from left to right.

The orientation confused me for a sec. *dazed and confused*
Paneling is one of the emphases on how a character reacts... hmm...
I see by placing emphasis on certain parts of the page you are able to reflect what emotion is being displayed in this page. Hmmm wow, it seems that the characters are some sort of dysfunctional family. I don't know it seems peculiar as to why the father would blow up his son, but this is paneling at it's.... development. It would be presumptuous of me to tell you that you should panel like Dave Gibbons, but then again he screws up from time to time. But you are doing pretty well, tho even after all of that crap I had just said.

Well... you didn't see him pull the trigger, have you? :P

As for the panel displacent, to me it should show what's happening, instead of focusing on a certain character's feelings. We have facial expressions for that, already.

My Takeshi looks like a normal little boy x3 without the gun per exemple :p

OOOOO, in that case true, but using paneling for showing expression, combined with the angle they drew, that also creates for a more expressive part of the page. Like using a dutch angle to show that your character is isolated in society.

I didn't notice that though. I should pay closer attention to the poses that the characters are embossed in.
